Leadership training provides CSR project with water and solar power.

- Human House supports Grundfos on site in Kenya.
As a direct follow-up on an intercultural leadership training programme Human House has supported specialists from Grundfos in implementing a sustainable solution, including solar power and water supply, at the Shanzu Community and School for disabled women.

The training programme was a special intercultural event where Danish and Kenyan managers together were participating in a leadership course. The participants were working on a project together and using managerial and leadership skills to set up sustainable business plans for a local community at the Shanzu area in Mombasa.

The core issue of the course was to challenge each other on leadership styles and delicate issues like value based discussions on religion, gender, respectfulness or lack of respect.

After the course was finished an additional initiative was taken to apply for a donation from the Poul Due Jensen Foundation to support the community where the course had taken place. The community had for a long period of time been suffering from unstable and expensive power and water supply, so the idea was to remove this concern from the community and give them a chance to focus on their business plan.

An application was send to the Poul Due Jensen Foundation who most generously donated funds for a solar driven power plant and solar driven, submersible pumps. In addition to this a cooperation between Grundfos specialists and Human Houses' Kenyan partners from ODCL were formed and - working for free - setting up the system and coordinating with local authorities and suppliers. The new installations was finished in April 2011.

The initial purpose was leadership training in an intercultural environment learning, but an actual CSR project was accomplished as an additional outcome.

The programme 'Leading in a Multicultural Environment' are running next time in Kisumu near Lake Victoria in November 2011. Please call us for the dates in 2012.
